Thank you to all of you who helped with our Annual Gala & Art Auction 2009 honoring the Laurence W. Levine Foundation and our Man-of-the-Year Robert J. Bigler!

We had a terrific Host Commitee, thanks to our Board President Nancy Engelhardt.  It was a fantastic night, and we far surpassed our goal of 250 guests - we reached 316!

Thank you to all of the dedicated volunteers who made the evening's success possible: Nadine Ducasse, Sandy & John Romano, Liz & Rebecca Macchio, , Luanne Rozran, Jenna Kern-Rugile, Emily Green, Amy Olander, Kim D'Ambrosio, Colleen Wolcott, Andrew Silver, Brian Fiedler, Marissa & Shane Factora.   And a tremendous thank you for all of the donated services provided by: Evan Lipsman of Patken Photography, Brian Hallahan of Precision Parties DJ, Jay Brenner of Brenner Photogaphy, Patty Berwald of Berwald Creative, The Bayport Flower Houses, One-Ten Newspaper, and Waldo & Jen of MyLITV.com.  And our eternal gratitude goes to our award-winning auctioneers, Jill & Erin Doherty.

Thank you to all of the generous donors of gorgeous and exciting raffle items: Catherine Brown, Bob Bigler, Kim Myrabella, Dottie Bagnato, Theresa Santmann, Southwest Airlines' roundtrip tickets, Pal-O-Mine, Family Britches of Chappaqua, Evan Lipsman, Mac's Steakhouse of Huntington, Great Rock Golf Club, and the many artists who donated their beautiful artwork.

A very special thanks to our host committee, especially Theresa Santmann who opened her home for our committee and then brought three tables to the gala, as well a Mike Dawidziak, who brought another three tables that evening!

Special thanks to all the artists who helped Stephanie Condra create Lauren's First and Goal illustrations:  Andrew Silver, Brian Fiedler, Sarah Baecher, Marie Douchette, James Johanson, Beth Lipson, Liz Macchio, Sheauwei Pidd, Frank Sofo, Lesley Sim, and Frank Bandiero.

We celebrate our Young Splash Stars Lauren Loose and Marissa Factora, and look forward to many more years of splashing together!

For Artists

If you are a new volunteer applying to be an artist it is important that you meet with one of our representatives at our studio so that we can discuss styles and color schemes that can best support those served in our mission throughout their healing process.  Once we have established a relationship, we can get you started with layouts, ceiling tiles, and fine art donations.  Eventually we may ask you to work on the mural panels in studio or on-site as well.

Indications for Layouts:
Layout designs should be full-color and to the scale of the dimensions of the wall to be "splashed." Themes are often underwater or a park scene with cute characters for children, Americana for VA hospitals, and nature scenes of a garden, beach, forest, or lake for adult units.  A brighter primary or pastel pallette is to be used in most instances.  Layouts may be completed using any medium.

Indications for Ceiling Tiles:
Ceiling tiles are painted on either 2' x 2' or 2' x 4' standard acoustic tiles that are either supplied by the hospital or purchased at a hardware depot.  They need to be primed or gessoed before paint is applied and only acrylic artists paint or latex house paint may be used.  Themes are often a sky looking up at tree branches, birds, butterflies, clouds, and even hot air balloons; calming outdoor landscapes, or underwater scenes with adorable characters.  A brighter primary or pastel pallette is always to be used.

Indications for Fine Art Donations:
Fine art donations can be of any style, genre, color scheme, and media.  These are used for auction at Splashes of Hope fundraising events, and while we ask you to keep in mind donating items that will generate buyers' interest, how the interest is generated is entirely up to you!  Past donations accepted included (but are not limited to) oil, acrylic, and watercolor paintings, pastel and charcoal drawings, sculpture in any medium, photography, hand-blown glass items, hand-made jewelery, and silk paintings.

Grantwriting:
Please contact us separately by telephone if this is an area of interest to you and be sure to let us know if you have experience in the grantwriting arena.  For our purposes we will need help with both researching and applying for private and corporate foundation grants

Create and Host Your Own Fundraiser:
Any idea that you have is welcome!  Whether you would like to hold a lemonade stand or a bake sale, host a Meet-the-Artists cocktail party, or organize a benefit concert, your imagination is the limit when it comes to finding creative ways to generate funds to continue our mission!  The fundraisers can even be held outside of our local New York area and may be used benefit a project that is local to where you would like to hold your fundraiser.  Please contact us directly with your ideas.
