To change the environment of healthcare facilities by creating
colorful, therapeutic
murals.
Splashes of Hope is a non-profit organization of artists who hand-paint murals in healthcare facilities. Each mural is designed to stimulate the healing process by giving
patients a soothing visual focus while in the hospital. The murals transform
facility walls and create a comfortable atmosphere for patients, visiting family and hospital staff.

The effect in
sickness of beautiful objects, of variety of objects and especially
of brilliancy of color is hardly at all appreciated... People say
the effect is only on the mind. It is no such thing. The
effect is on the body, too. Little as we know about the way in
which we are affected by form, by color, and light, we do know this;
they have a physical effect. Variety of form and brilliancy of
color in the objects presented to patients are actual means of
recovery."
